PARKOUR

  • Parkour classes are best described using the definition of the sport: using your body to navigate through your environment as fast and efficiently as possible.  Parkour consists of running, jumping, climbing, vaulting and many techniques to go over, under and through obstacles. Parkour can be described as a non-combative martial art that is used to get to a place (reach) or get away (escape).

girls+ can parkour

  • We understand that Parkour can sometimes seem like a boys club, but it doesn't have to. Girls+ Can Parkour too! This class is exclusive to female, trans, two-spirit and gender expansive/variant individuals who want to learn (or build on existing) parkour skills! Coaches are passionate about sharing their love of parkour with others and will do that in an inclusive space.

NINJA WARRIOR

  • Ninja Warrior classes are quite different from Parkour, while parkour is getting from one destination to another as efficiently as possible, Ninja obstacle courses are more of a test of strength, speed, and dexterity all while encountering several different obstacles.
There is an emphasis on upper body and grip strength required and it is often equated more to the military style training that we have seen on TV (and of course all the Ninja based shows!) where you’re crawling over walls, under objects, and climbing over obstacles.

PINJA

  • Pinja classes blend parkour and Ninja Warrior classes into one! These classes teach the parkour skills of running, jumping, climbing, vaulting as well as techniques to go over and under obstacles. Pinja classes also spend time exploring Ninja Warrior obstacles and building up the upper body strength and endurance required for Ninja Warrior. Pinja classes have less of a focused progression in one area of movement, but allow students to explore both parkour and Ninja Warrior and try different movements all over the different areas of SMC’s gym.

train & play

  • A movement based experience designed with kids aged 5-8 in mind.

  • Think Open Gym meets circuit training: that's Train & Play!

  • During this one hour class, kids will have the gym to themselves. Coaches will have skill stations set up during this class for those kids who show interest in learning a new skill set, and the rest of the gym is set for free play. We will have multiple coaches on staff to help kids, encourage them to try something new and explore the space in a safe way.

SEMI PRIVATE FLIP

  • This class is for anyone wanting to learn to flip for the first time, brush up on their skills or progress to the next level! Skills taught here range from cartwheels to standing front and backflips.

  • Classes max out at 5 participants

FLIPS 101

  • This class focuses on the rudiments of the inverted world. Students will learn the fundamental skills needed to develop a sense of comfort and spatial awareness whilst flipping upside-down.

  • The course will start off with a focus on the basics, which include somersaults, handstands, cartwheels, diverolls, and more. Once the group has shown their proficiency with these fundamentals, they will spend the rest of the session working on the three foundational flips: Frontflip, Backflip, and Sideflip.

  • For some, these flips may take more than one session to land, but once the student has landed all three, they may be admitted to the Flips & Tricks class.

FLIP & TRICKS

  • This class is for those who have shown proficiency with the foundational flips studied in Flips 101 or a Semi Private Flips class. As a pre requisite, the student must be able to consistently land all 3 of the flips studied in their previous flip class.

  • This class aims to expand the students' vocabulary of movement past the fundamentals by combining setups, (such as the cartwheel), with various flips, (such as the frontflip). The student will also get to explore the realm of Tricking; a sport that pulls from the disciplines of gymnastics, breakdance, and martial arts, forming a unique and aesthetic type of movement.

  • Knowing the three fundamental flips from the Flips 101 class, the student will now be able to work towards more advanced tricks, such as the Butterfly Twist, Cheat Gainer, Corkscrew, and more.

Ninja competition prep

  • This class is designed for anyone who wants to take their Ninja Warrior skills to the next level and prepare to compete against their fellow classmates. Many of our Ninja athletes have gone on to compete at the National Level and this class is sure to set your child up for success on whatever platform they compete!
