Parkour Competition Series

Speed - April 6
Skill - May 4
Style - June 8

Speed

A speed competition in parkour has a set start and end point. Competitors will have to navigate a set path and combination of obstacles to reach the end point.

We will have 2 qualifying courses and 1 final course.

Competitors will have 2 practice runs on each course to prepare and plan their strategy. Each athlete will have a card that will be checked off before each practice run. Practice runs will not be timed and will not be considered as an official run under any circumstance.

Once everyone has done their practice runs, competitors will be called up one at a time to do their official run.

Top 6 competitors with the lowest total time from the qualifying round will move on to the finals.

May the fastest win!

Skill

A skill competition in parkour involves completing a variety of very specific challenges set throughout the gym. How many steps you take, how precise your landing is, and how the movement is done all matter in a skill competition. ( ex: can’t do a step vault when the challenge involves a kong vault)

There will be a qualifying round and a finals round for the skill competition

There will be 10 qualifying challenges and 5 final challenges in our skill competition covering a wide range of parkour movements from jumping, vaulting, swinging and combinations of all three. (Flips will not be apart of our skill competition)

During the qualifying round athletes will have 30 minutes to complete as many challenges set throughout the gym.

Each athlete will have a score card that will be checked off by a coach for completing a skill. If an athlete completes a skill on their first attempt “flashes” the challenge they will get 2 points. Other attempts will be worth 1 point.

It will be a “jam style” event where athletes are free to roam the gym and choose which challenges they want to try, order doesn’t matter, just complete as many as possible during the qualifying round for best odds of advancing to finals.

How many points an athlete got in the qualifying round will determine if they move to the finals stage. Top 6 will advance to the finals.

The finals will be a bit different. The group of 6 athletes will move as a group to the 5 different challenges. Each athlete will have 3 attempts at each challenge. Based on the results, the top 3 will get on the podium.

May the best athlete win!

Style

A style competition in parkour is where your creativity can really shine through! In a style competition you create your own line on a predetermined set up in the gym. Your line will be judged on 4 criteria and by 3 separate coaches to balance out any biases…

  1. Creativity

  2. Execution

  3. Difficulty

  4. Flow

The predetermined set-up will be put together in the gym for a few weeks leading up to the competition. This will give athletes time to plan and prepare their routines.

Athletes are expected to have 2 lines prepared for competition day ranging from 20-30 seconds in length. The scoring of each line will be added together and the top 3 athletes will get on the podium.

May the most creative win!
